Hand surgery involves the assessment, repair and reconstruction of the hand and providing individually optimised functional gains after injury, disease or ageing
Plastic surgery involves repair, reconstruction, rejuvenation and regeneration of tissues damage through trauma or disease, providing both functional and cosmetic solutions
Peripheral nerve surgery is a discipline focused on optimising function after paralysis, restoration of sensation and management of neuropathic pain
The HaPPeN team has experience in delivery of both commercial trials and commercially funded investigator-led trials in hand, plastics and peripheral nerve surgery, including single-centre and multi-centre UK and international studies
The team are expert in the regulatory requirements for delivery of trials and have developed bespoke IT solutions for data handling, processing and storage
The HaPPeN team have a proven track record in cost-effective delivery of high-quality clinical trials within the specialist areas of hand, plastics and peripheral nerve surgery
The ITM is based in the heritage building at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. The centre was developed as a hub for research and innovation, with co-location of key personnel, research groups, the SRMRC, MD-Tec and the Centre for Rare Diseases.
The ITM has meeting rooms, conference facilities, a simulation suite, laboratory and testing facilities. The centre provides an opportunity for industry to meet with clinicians, research and innovation advisers under one roof, exploring opportunities for working together to evaluate new technologies and biomedical devices bringing innovation to healthcare provision in the NHS.
The HaPPeN team moved their Birmingham office to the ITM when it opened in 2015 and since then the facilities and support have enabled a rapid growth with delivery of a high class portfolio of clinical trials.
